Repatriation of Rwanda Defence Force Troops and Equipment
Operational Summary
In 2019, RRS was tasked with the repatriation of The Rwanda Defence Force Battalion 49 as part of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
RRS conducted the operation starting from the troops' location in Kabkabiya, Da rfur, Sudan, and proceeded through Port Sudan and Dar Eslam to Kigali, covering a total distance of 8,775 km across three countries by both land and sea.
RRS successfully transported 155 vehicles along with 36 containers, which included Class A Dangerous cargo.
RRS Value Added
RRS provided the Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) with an integrated solution for door-to-door delivery from the camp location in Darfur to Kigali
RDF use of RRS as the sole logistics contractor resulted in significant reduction in costs and time
RRS’ UN expertise and UN vendor experience was a key in obtaining the security clearances required for RDF shipments from Sudan to Rwanda
